Previous Meetings:
October 2008
This meeting was Hosted by Tracy and Cindy in Brighton, TN. and was attended by 9 members.
After a nice meal of Chilli and Sante Fe Soup we got down to business.
Minutes
It was decided that since *Make Fish Smile* paid for sponsorship last year and was never given a banner or credit of such on the club website that they would have their banner and sponsorship active for this year in place of it.
Dave C (dzones) announced the club website was completed and would be posted and made live the day following the meeting.
President Dave H motioned:
1) The meeting time, date and location for the meeting following the existing one should be set and announced. (see location above)
2) A change in the Bylaws was necessary to coincide with the annual frag swap and our fiscal tax year as recognized by the Federal Government. The Nominees will be announced at the November Meeting and Voting will take place at the December meeting during our highest voter turnout (the Christmas Party). The new Officers terms will be from January 1 to December 31st.
-it was decided to leave the current officers in place for the extra 6 months instead of shortening their terms to 6 months. No nomination or elections will take place until Novermber/December of 2009.
Other Bylaw changes were suggested by Bill H (ducklabdad) to include an appointment of a trustees board of 3 members and each given an area of responsibilty such as a newly introduced "tanks in schools" program.
Membership dues for students should be stated as any student who carries a current student ID card whether it be university, high school etc., to be $10.00 instead of "under 18 years of age.
Clarification was made as to what we would include on the website for The St Jude Project. We were informed that the project is officially over for the club but our efforts and accomplishments on this would be given a space on the page "Club Accomplishments".
A Change of venue for the Christmas Party was brought up but since it is only a short time away it was decided it would be looked at for next year instead.
Revenue for the Frag Swap were announced and it was nice hearing that the even turned a profit this year. Attendance was way up over last year and it was estimated that there was 183 paid attendees. (does not include the vendors).
Dzones (Dave C) brought up that club sponsorship should include any outside source companies that may be interested. He currently owns a business and being an active member was more than happy to sponsor and donate door and raffle prizes from his PC Repair and Sales company.
The Club Library was started (Thanks to Dave H) and we currently have available for borrow:
Marine Aquariums - A Simple Guide
Ultimate Marine Aquariums By Michael Paletta
Book availabilty and information will be on the "Club Extras" Page
If you would like to Donate a book to the library please just bring it along to any meeting.
